Tonight’s match will be the first time Tottenham have played since the announcement of the departure of Antonio Conte as manager over the international break.
Much has been made of Conte’s spell as Tottenham manager which ultimately ended in the failure to bring a first trophy to the club in 15 years.
Following their 3-3 draw at Southampton just before the international break, having given up a two goal lead late on, the Italian criticised the ownership and the players in the post-match press conference in what was ultimately his final act in the job.
Conte’s assistant manager, Christian Stellini, will take charge of the team for the remainder of the season, with the north London club still firmly locked in a battle to finish in the top four and secure Champions League football next season.
Spurs head into Monday night’s game in fifth place, but only a point behind both Newcastle and Manchester United following their match on Sunday.
Tottenham have won just one of their last five matches in all competitions, and have lost four of their last five away matches, with the other result coming in the draw at Southampton.
They travel to Merseyside to take on an Everton team who also have one win in their last five matches, but the more optimistic of fans will also point out they’re unbeaten in their last three.
In their last two games, Sean Dyche’s side ended Brentford’s unbeaten run of 12 matches, and picked up a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
Due to results not going their way over the past weekend, the Toffees will start tonight’s match back in the relegation zone on goal difference, but know that a point will take them up to 15th, and a win would leave them 13th.
Everton haven’t scored against Spurs in their last three games, of which Spurs have won the most recent two, though the north London haven’t won at Goodison Park in their last four matches, dating back to 2018.
This will be Stellini and Dyche’s first time managing against each other on the touchline, but the latter has only won two of his 17 matches he’s managed against Tottenham, losing 11.
