Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores has remained coy on speculation linking the club with a move for Abdoulaye Doucoure.
The Hornets have already signed 12 players this summer but are reportedly chasing the Rennes midfielder before the transfer window closes next week.
Flores is said to be ready to splash around £8m on the Frenchman, who has also attracted interest from clubs in Italy.
However, when addressing the media ahead of Watford’s match with Manchester City on Saturday, Flores refused to comment on the rumours surrounding Doucoure.
“We are working very hard to incorporate a couple of players,” the Spaniard said.
“I know this player [Doucoure] but I don’t like to talk about names until it is sure they are coming. Normally we talk in the club. It is a group. It is not the manager, it is not Mr. Pozzo, it is a group.
“So when a player is coming to the team it is because we check before. We are working very hard to incorporate a couple of players.”
